TECHNICAL

Many photographers seemed to be obsessed with gear, and comparing one brand vs another. I admit that I'm a gear hound and have more cameras and lenses than should be allowed. However, I'm oddly unobsessed with the gear itself, and am more interested in just using it. I don't explicitly keep track of what camera, what exposure, what lens, what film, and so on.... though I'll usually remember anyway. In any case, you won't find any equipment reviews here, or lens resolution tests, or any detailed inventories of my gear. But here's a general overview for those who must know:

Cameras
Nikon D, Contax 645, Leica M, Mamiya 7, Fuji 645, and various toy cameras and camera fair finds.

Lenses
Fast zooms, slow zooms, primes, homemade lenses, pinholes... whatever works.

Film
If I'm using film, it's probably one of these: Kodak E100VS, E100GX, Portra 400VC, Delta 3200, XP2.

Film vs. Digital
I've never understood the "vs". I use both. Actually, I've been primarily digital since Feb 2000, but I still shoot film just because I like the handling of the Leicas and the big negative of the medium format cameras.

"Darkroom"
It's all in my computer now. All film gets scanned (Coolscan 8000). Nikon Capture. Photoshop. Epson 2200.

Digital manipulation
Yes. Absolutely. I've got no problem with altering images. If I don't like something in the picture, I'll fix it. If I want the image to have a different feel, I'll change it. I'm really only concerned with the final product. That said, I do actually do most everything in camera, and try to use Photoshop just for adjusting levels, color balance, contrast, and so on. I don't generally change people's heads and stuff.
